Jeff,
Thanks a lot for your response.
We checked lamd. It was running.
Do I need to recompile my application whem migrating to new version of LAM?
Thanks.

Can you run anything in the LAM universe that you have booted? Such as a
singleton "hello world" kind of MPI program? (i.e., launch it without
mpirun) Can you verify that the lamd's are actually running after you
lamboot (i.e., can you see them in ps, and do they respond to tping)?
It's unclear from your error message exactly where the error is -- whether
it's within mpirun, your application, or the lamd.
We built the RPM on a RH8 system; it is possible that it will not work
properly on a RH9 system (I thought we had tested that, but it's possible
that we did not). Can you download the tarball and compile from source?
