Doh! How exactly did *that* make it through release testing?
Nick's answer is right on the money -- set your CFLAGS to "-mt" before
running configure, do a full recompile and re-install, and you should be
ok.
I've just filed a bug about this; we should have a real fix in CVS (both
at the head and on the 7.0 branch) shortly.
Well, we were planning to do a 7.0.1 in the not-distant future with a
number of little cleanups anyway. Given the huge difference between the
6.5.x series and 7.0, I'm actually amazed that we got this far without
finding any other major bugs. :-)
