There are a variety of plotting tools out there (many/most of which are
unrelated to MPI). Popular choices include Matlab, gnuplot, the various
free Excel clones, etc.
As to whether you can plot during data calculation, that's mostly up to
your application and how you invoke the plot mechanism. The only
restriction that I can think of is that the gm (Mryinet) library does not
support fork() on all platforms. Hence, if you're using Myrinet networks
with LAM's native Myrinet support, on some platforms, your MPI application
may not be able to directly fork your plotting tool.
