No.

Version 7.0 has a lot of performance and feature enhancements as compared
to the 6.5.x series. Although we still offer the 6.5.x series on the main
website for download (and will probably continue to do so for at least a
short while longer), it is officially dead and will stop being supported
at some point in the not-distant future.
So while there's no *immediate* need to upgrade, all LAM 6.5.x users are
strongly encouraged to start transitioning to the 7 series.
