I know some differences:
- LAM implement RMA, MPICH does not.
- LAM work with a deamon, MPICH does not.
- MPICH is installed with upshot, jumpshot and LAM does not.
- Both work with shared memory to communicate processes in the samen node.
- If LAM is installed with USYSV, it shared memoy to communicate
processors in the same node and uses TCP to communicate processors in
different nodes.
- MPICH has differents ADIs to diferents hardware architectures.
I work with both, to solve bugs. Because some bugs are present in LAM and
some bugs are not present in MPICH, and some busgs are present in MPICH
and some bugs are not present in LAM.
