It is not possible to change the installation location of the LAM RPMs.
For various reasons, they are not relocatable. However, building LAM from
source is fairly straight-forward and will give you the ability to specify
an installation prefix.

LAM runs just fine with the whole installation on an NFS-available network
directory (in fact, that's how we usually develop LAM). You probably
can't acheive what you want using the RPMs, since I would not advise
making /usr/ an NFS mount on a normal cluster. But if built from source,
this is no problem.
