So *finally*, we think we have the Myrinet RPI working. We discovered a
doozie of a bug about a month ago (proper Myrinet support has been the
main issue that's been holding up LAM/MPI 7.0), and we think we finally
have all the problems straightened out. I just published 7.0b17 on the
beta web page (http://www.lam-mpi.org/beta/) with the newest Myrinet code.

We could *really* benefit from some real-world MPI applications giving it
a whirl before we release 7.0 to the world.

Could those of you who have Myrinet out there download 7.0b17 and give it
a whirl with your MPI applications? Here's the short version of how to
install it and how to run with the Myrinet RPI (Bourne shells):

        shell$ gunzip -c lam-7.0b17.tar.gz | tar xf -
        shell$ cd lam-7.0b14
        shell$ ./configure --prefix=/path/to/install/in \
                --with-gm=/path/to/gm 2>&1 | tee config.out
        # ...go get some coffee...

        shell$ make all install 2>&1 | tee make.out
        # ...go get some more coffee...

Then use (the newly installed) mpicc/mpiCC/mpif77 to compile your
application as normal. Lamboot as normal. But use the mpirun "-ssi"
switch to ensure that you use the gm RPI:

        shell$ mpirun -ssi rpi gm C your_mpi_application

We've done lots of testing in our environments, but there's just no
substitute for real MPI applications to stress an RPI.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
