LAM/MPI can run over the IP layer provided by newer versions of the
Myricom gm software. If you add the optimizations Myricom suggests, you
can get very good bandwidth. However, latency is still pretty bad.
Better than IP over ethernet, but not as good as native GM.
There is a beta version of LAM/MPI (6.6b1) available with our first
take at gm support. Keep in mind, it is no where near optimized yet. But
it should perform much better than LAM/MPI over Myrinet/IP. If you are
interested, take a look at:

Or, if you really like to live on the edge, you can try the CVS version
(also with GM support):

If you find bugs in the CVS version, especially w.r.t GM, please let us
know. We want to get it quite stable before we formally release it :).
